18:00
Evening on the topic of Art Brut
Despite the fact that Japanese Kunizo Marsumoto is illiterate, he invented a beautiful and secret writing system. Even though society considers him an outsider, American George Widener is capable of holding in his memory the events of the past 1500 years and of writing even the distant future into his “magic squares” made out of paper napkins. While Czech Zdeněk Košek has been designated as crazy, he has directed the weather on the entire planet using his graphic diagrams. The feature film Rouge Ciel by French director and Art Brut collector Bruno Decharme is dedicated to geniuses who operate outside the norms. A collage of their portraits, historic excurses and the reflections of theorists, philosophers, psychoanalysts and gallery curators batter our methods of thought and crush well-established views on art and its aesthetic canons.
After the screening there will be a debate with the film authors and two
participants: creator Zdeněk Košek and theorist Manuel Anceau.
